A fan asks Lawler to describe the difference in taking bumps now compared to the old days. Lawler says that the industry has obviously always been physical, and injuries will always play a factor. He can remember former WWE wrester Droz looking up at him after being paralyzed from a poorly executed move, and telling Lawler that he knew he was paralyzed. Lawler will never forget that.
Even within the last couple of weeks Lawler was working an independent booking and was dropped on his shoulder as his opponent failed to get him up for a power slam. This resulted in him separating his shoulder. He says that injuries have happened in this business since the beginning of time, and although it’s unfortunate, he’s sure it will continue to happen.
Another fan asks Lawler who his favourite opponent to work with was over his lengthy 46-year career. Lawler says Bill Dundee and Terry Funk are two of his favourite opponents of all time. He also says that he believes Andy Kaufman should be in the WWE Hall of Fame. If Drew Carey is in the HOF, Lawler thinks it’s a no brainer that Kaufman should be inducted as well.
That sums up today’s episode of Dinner with the King. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya next week for another recap!
