Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane.
On today’s show Russo and Lane will be reviewing WrestleMania X. This was Russo’s first show working for WWE, and he will never forget it. This was a very good time in his life and he still looks back on it now with a smile on his face.
He says that while watching WrestleMania X for this podcast, he couldn’t believe how good this show was. For all his critics who say that he only likes the wrestling shows that he wrote, he says that they’re completely wrong because he had nothing to do with this show and it was amazing. He says that everyone on this show looked like stars, and each and every one of them were large, intimidating figures.
Russo says that’s one of the biggest differences between then and now. There are very few intimidating figures on WWE’s current roster, yet even then women on the WrestleMania X card could destroy him. Russo says, “I’m 56 years old living in a cabin by a lake, and I could kick Finn Balor’s ass.”
Russo says that WWE has turned into an independent wrestling league that markets itself to a niche audience. He adds that there are still a few stars such as Roman Reigns, Charlotte and Bray Wyatt, but big name stars are few and far between in today’s WWE.
