Blocks 3 & 4:
A listener calls into the show and says while Finn Balor deserves a chance to get his Title back, Kevin Owens is still due a Universal Championship rematch as well. Taz agrees entirely, and if he had his way it would be Owens vs. Balor for the Universal Championship at ‘Mania. Obviously that’s not going to happen at this point, and Taz points out that Owens was actually pinned to lose the Title while Balor was not.
Another listener calls into the show and feels that the problem with the Cruiserweight division is that WWE is not respecting the cruiserweight talents. Taz disagrees entirely and says that WWE gave the cruiserweights their own show, and are still highlighting them multiple times on RAW each week. He believes that the issue with the cruiserweights is that WWE is booking them exactly how they book the rest of their roster.
Taz comments on the rumours that WWE is in negotiations to purchase ROH. He says usually when there’s smoke there’s fire, but in this case he thinks it’s more likely that WWE is solely purchasing the ROH programming.
Rather than purchasing the entire company, Taz thinks WWE wants to buy the rights to show ROH’s programming on the WWE Network. Then WWE can truly consider splitting WWE Network subscriptions into a multi-tier system, where paying more money gets you ROH programming and more additional content.
A listener calls into the show and feels it’s strange that Samoa Joe does not have an announced match for WrestleMania with only a week and a half to go. Taz says that maybe there were no plans for Joe to have a WrestleMania match this year, and he was just brought to the main roster to serve as ‘protection’ for Triple H. He mentions that Joe may get involved in the Triple H/Seth Rollins match.
That sums up today’s episode of The Taz Show. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya tomorrow for another recap!
