Russo mentions that it must have been hard to tone down his legitimate intensity in order to work a wrestling match most nights. Shamrock laughs and agrees, saying it wasn’t easy. He also admits that there might have been a couple of times where he took advantage of his legit skills during wrestling matches against JBL and Triple H.
Russo credits Shamrock for giving The Rock the legitimacy to push through the ceiling in the WWE, and go on to reach Superstar status. Just before The Rock took off in WWE, he worked with Shamrock in a lengthy feud, which Russo believes really pushed The Rock over the top.
Shamrock says that any Superstar needs that one guy to help them get to the next level, but there’s no denying that guys like The Rock and Steve Austin made no mistake when they were given the opportunity to run with the ball as the top guys in WWE. While there were lots of people who helped them get there, the main credit has to go to the guys who made the most of their opportunities.
That sums up today’s episode of Vince Russo’s The Brand. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya tomorrow for another recap!
