Taz points out that Maura Ranallo was absent from Smackdown Live again last night, as Tom Phillips informed viewers that Ranallo was sick. Taz predicted that after missing last week’s tapings due to weather, Ranallo might be kept of television again this week and that turned out to be the case.
Taz says that his comments last week weren’t a personal attack on Ranallo, he just knows from his years working in the industry that missing a show like that is a big no-no. Since Phillips announced that Ranallo was missing last night’s show because he was sick, Taz believes that there are two explanations for why Phillips said that.
First, he thinks Phillips might have said that to publicly shame Ranallo for calling in ‘sick’ to a live show, because WWE could have easily just ignored it if Ranallo was legitimately sick and that would have been the end of it. Secondly, those comments could have been an angle, to hide the fact that Ranallo’s time in WWE quickly coming to an end for one reason or another.
From a consistency perspective, Taz thinks it would almost be weird to see Ranallo appear back on Smackdown next week now. We’re in the final buildup to WrestleMania, and WWE typically wants a consistent voice talking to their audience as they head into major shows and especially WrestleMania.
