Taz opens today’s show speaking about last night’s episode of Smackdown Live.
He says he liked A.J. Styles’ opening promo, and the recurring thread throughout the show which consisted of Styles planning a second surprise attack on Shane McMahon. Taz admits that he wasn’t overly excited about this matchup when it was rumoured several weeks ago, but WWE has changed his mind in this case.
He believes that WWE has done a great job of building towards this match and he’s actually very excited to watch this bout on April 2nd now. They’ve devoted a lot of time to this feud, and both Styles and Shane have taken advantage of this time. Capping off the show with Shane driving Styles through an announce table with his patented flying elbow, WWE drove home the fact that this match is a must-see.
Taz thought WWE’s camera work was terrific on Shane’s diving elbow drop. It appeared that Shane placed Styles slightly too far away, and failed to connect solidly with the elbow. Fortunately WWE’s camera work hid this, and they were helped by the way Styles sold the move where he lifted his legs prior to impact, somewhat shielding the actual point of impact.
Taz thinks that Smackdown has solidly built towards the majority of their WrestleMania matches, but the one exception is the Intercontinental Championship match between Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin. He thinks this match, and particularly the IC Title deserves more attention and WWE really needs to address this on next’s week’s go-home episode of Smackdown Live.
