Ryback is joined on today’s show by his co-host Pat Buck.
Ryback talks about WWE’s Brawl for All boxing tournament that aired during Attitude Era RAWs in the late 90s. He says that wrestlers were put in a ‘shit position’ by having to compete in that tournament. He recalls Kama participating in that tournament and he mentions that he loved Kama as a kid, but after this tournament Kama transitioned into the Godfather character.
As much as he loved Kama, there’s no doubt that The Godfather was a step up in terms of popularity for Charles Wright at that point. Buck also mentions that White portrayed the Papa Shango character in his initial WWE run, and he was terrified of that character.
Ryback recalls bring a young fan and seeing Wright working out at a gym. He couldn’t believe his eyes that Kama was working out in front of him, and he thinks that led to him growing even fonder of the Kama character. On another occasion Ryback recalls showing up to a ‘meet and greet’ event where he was supposed to meet ‘Razor Ramon’ Scott Hall.
Unfortunately, for some reason Hall didn’t make the appearance and Ryback was terribly dissapointed. He always remembered how sad he was that day, and throughout his career he has been determined to make all of his ‘meet and greet’ appearances because he doesn’t want any young fans to feel the way he did that day.
