On today’s show, Lawler will be discussing his one and only WrestleMania match against Michael Cole at WrestleMania 27.
Before he gets into that discussion, he mentions that since his cardiac arrest he was placed on WWE’s ‘no contact’ list. He was cleared to wrestle only 3 months after his cardiac arrest by his doctors and he has been wrestling on the indies ever since, however WWE still had him on their ‘no contact’ list.
He took his first bump in WWE since his cardiac arrest during the ‘King’s Court’ segment on Smackdown a few weeks back and that was very special to him. He believes that WWE has been afraid to clear him for an in-ring return because of the public relations liability that could arise if anything were to happen to him in the ring again.
Lawler admits that he’d like to have one final match, to replace the WrestleMania ‘fiasco’ he had with Cole at WrestleMania 27. He actually thought the match was fine, and despite Cole’s limitations in the ring he thought they told a pretty good story by involving Jack Swagger and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. Still, some fans refer to it as the worst WrestleMania match of all time.
