Taz gets into his analysis of last night’s episode of Smackdown Live.
He says that he enjoyed the show for the most part, and it was nice to hear a 2-man booth call the action for a change. He thought that Tom Phillips came off as a steady play-by-play guy and JBL seemed to be right at home in the 2-man booth. Taz has been critical of Tom Phillips in the past, but he mentions that Phillips has grown on him dramatically over the last several months.
David Otunga was away last night filming a movie, and Taz hopes that Otunga has a very successful film career as long as it keeps him from WWE’s announce booth.
Speaking about Maura Ranallo’s absence, Taz says that unless it’s a family emergency you can’t miss a show, it’s as simple as that. Ranallo is working one night a week and getting paid handsomely to do so, and he simply can’t miss shows like this. WrestleMania is 3 weeks away and the young guy (Tom Phillips) is right on Ranallo’s tail, so Taz feels that there’s no way he should have missed Smackdown last night due to weather.
Taz says he wouldn’t be shocked if we don’t see Ranallo at the announce booth next week, and he wouldn’t blame WWE for that at all. WWE is paying for all your travel, and as an on-screen talent Ranallo absolutely needs to make these shows.
