Dinner with the King Recap – WWE Release & New Contract, Working on WWE Video Games, Staying Busy on the Indies, More!
Lawler informs that WCW did not try to sign him before he went to WWE in 1992. Lawler still had a viable company going in Memphis, and his was one of the few promotions to survive Vince’s takeover of the territories. He was the feature talent in Memphis, and that allowed them to survive because all other promotions’ featured talents had no vested interest in their promotions and left for the big money of WWE.
Soon after, WWE reached a deal with Lawler to use Memphis as somewhat of a developmental territory for WWE. It was only a matter of time then before Lawler transitioned into a full time on-air role with WWE.
That sums up this week’s episode of Dinner with the King. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya next week for another recap!
