A listener calls into the show and asks Taz if he believes Lucha Underground’s premier on Netflix will open the door for other wrestling promotions to appear on the massive streaming platform. Taz doesn’t think that we’ll see much of that right away. Lucha Underground is filmed like a legitimate movie, and that takes a lot of time, effort, and money. It’s tough for indie promotions to film their action with that type of quality, so he doesn’t predict we’ll see other promotions on Netflix anytime soon.
Taz feels that when he watches RAW there’s a real sense of urgency in the show, which is cool. When he watches Smackdown Live the show feels calmer, and he’s not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Perhaps the difference in the show’s length changes how things are produced, but there’s a distinctly different feel when you watch Smackdown Live compared to RAW.
Another listener calls into the show and says that people are complaining about Owens losing to Goldberg just weeks out from WrestleMania, but a similar thing happened to A.J. Styles on Smackdown Live. Both Champions carried their respective brands for months, but had their Titles taken away just weeks before their big payoff at WrestleMania. Taz agrees that it’s very unfair, but that’s the way business is done sometimes.
That sums up today’s episode of The Taz Show. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya tomorrow for another recap!
