Russo makes his return to The Brand today after a taking a few days away to travel to his new residence.
Jeff Lane informs Russo that Josh Matthews’ Twitter account has been a hot topic over the last couple of weeks. Matthews went on a Twitter rant where he referred to himself as the greatest wrestling broadcaster of all time, and blatantly insulted broadcasting legends from the past.
Russo says this whole thing is an absolute, 100% work. With new management taking hold, Impact Wrestling is in desperate need to create intrigue about their product, and this is one way to go about that. He also doesn’t blame Matthews for saying that he’s the best, because everyone should have that kind of self-confidence. Russo adds that he has no trouble saying that he and Ed Ferrara are the best two wrestling writers of all time.
As trivial as this is, it’s news because there’s nothing else to talk about. This was probably Josh Matthews’ intention when he started this Twitter rant and it worked to perfection, so Russo gives Matthews credit for getting his name in the spotlight which is ultimately the name of the game in the wrestling business.
