The Grizzled Young Veterans had a golden opportunity on last night’s NXT 2.0. The team, now repackaged as “Gibson & Drake” took on Legado Del Fantasma with an eye on challenging Pretty Deadly for the NXT tag team titles. Things didn’t go the way Gibson and Drake were hoping.

Legado got the victory to move up in the NXT tag team ranks. After the show, WWE shared a digital exclusive interview with the team. Visibly disappointed, they said the NXT universe won’t be seeing the team anymore.

James Drake continued the storyline, posting a haunting image of his empty locker. The tweet was a reply to the video WWE posted of the team backstage. It looks like WWE will be moving on from the team.

“Thank you @WWE”

Neither Gibson nor Drake elaborated on their plans from here. Both have no plans to appear in NXT again. They could be repackaged, moved to the main roster, let go, or simply take some time off to freshen their acts.

Time will tell what the future holds for The Grizzled Young Veterans. For the moment, it looks like they are done in NXT. Of course, anything can happen in WWE, so fans should keep an eye out to see what’s next.
