Reasons Why We Need Wade Barrett
So over the past few months there have been numerous superstars returning and let’s face it after all the injuries and suspensions it was an already depleted roster. But since then we have gotten back Y2J, Randy Orton, Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio. The only one that I personally liked was Jericho, and really since the returns of all of them Jericho has been ding the most. His feud with Ziggler has been good for both of them, as I am typing I have just seen the stipulation on tonight’s match. I have a one hour delay from the US so I don’t know results yet. Orton and Sin Cara have had average returns and well Mysterio had an IC title shot last night but that just came out of nowhere.
I am looking forward to Wade Barrett’s return. He is a good young talent who has the ability to carry a major title. Look back to his feuds with Cena and Orton, and this was when he was a rookie just off NXT. He is good n the mic, he has the look of a champion and he can play the psychological role well. I know the promos have been hyping his return, but a date has yet to be set for his return. It would likely be in his best interest to have a return as a heel again. Del Rio is Smackdown’s top heel and from there it really seems to drop to Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler as the next strongest. Barrett could fill that gap and would be able to jump into the title picture soon.
I know there was a post earlier about possible rivalries for Barrett upon his return; I would like to add a couple that likely won’t happen but could be interesting.
William Regal: Both of these guys are English tough guys, both use a similar psychological styles, I think this rivalry would be like the Triple H vs. Ric Flair feud in the early 2000’s. A student vs. teacher type match.
Chris Jericho: Again a teacher student type rivalry as Jericho was Barrett’s NXT mentor. I think this would be a good big guy vs. smaller guy match. Jericho would do well in this rivalry and Barrett may learn even more.
