Does Mick Foley Actually Have a Chance at Winning?
This past Monday night on Raw, the executive Vice President of some stuff, John Laurinaitis, was handed a notice that he was being put under review pending an investigation next week on Raw by Triple H.
This forced Laurinaitis to do a couple of things—among them was adding Mick Foley to the Royal Rumble. Foley made it clear two weeks ago that he was looking for a spot this year.
Initially he was turned down by Johnny Ace, but after this past Monday, he was given the spot he wanted. One has to ask if this is simply a way of giving Foley something to do or if WWE is actually considering having him win the Rumble.
It is unlikely that he would win given the return of Chris Jericho being heavily based around him making his first real return to the ring in the battle royal, but WWE could always be planning a swerve.
While many fans would probably scoff at the idea of a Foley win, I think there is a large portion who would enjoy the angle.
Having Foley go into Mania to face the champion would be less likely though. I could see WWE having Foley take his shot at Elimination Chamber like Cena did when he won the Rumble to get around this problem.
Again, the odds of this happening are slim to none, but the Rumble is the one event out of the year where WWE tries to stress that anything is possible—maybe they could prove that point by having the most unlikely candidate win the whole thing.
I am not saying I would support giving Foley the win, but I would certainly applaud WWE for the decision, which would no doubt shock most of the people watching.
I like Foley, but he is nowhere near ready to have a full-time schedule again so this is probably all just a gimmick to have Foley in the Rumble, but stranger things have happened in a WWE ring before. Remember the Gobbledy Goooker?
What do you think? Does Foley have a snowball's chance in hell of winning the 2012 Royal Rumble?
