Even though it’s promoted under the shadow and under all the hype of the 1000th episode of Raw, I’m actually really excited for this PPV.
Pre-show: Kofi & Truth vs. Hunico & Camacho
Most of these guys have talent, so I expect this match to be pretty decent. Although, this match did come out of nowhere. And if you saw the last episode of NXT, Camacho lost to a developmental wrestler, even after an interference by Hunico. I see Kofi and Truth dropping their titles to the Prime-time Players eventually, but put up against Hunico and Camacho, Kofi & Truth win this one.
World Heavyweight Championship – Del Rio vs. Sheamus
Alberto Del Rio has been doing a great job at being an aggressive heel and getting under people’s skin lately. (Have you seen the video of Del Rio and Sheamus at ComicCon a couple days ago???). In addition to that, he can actually win matches without cheating or interferences, unlike most other heels in the company. Like him or not, last year alone, this guy accomplished more than most WWE superstars have in their careers. He became a two-time WWE champion, won MITB, and bested 38 other men (and 1 Kharma) in the largest Royal Rumble match ever. And as we heard already, WWE plans to put the belt on Del Rio eventually. But I don’t think it’s his time yet. I’m saying Sheamus retains today and maybe Del Rio walks out World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam.
WWE Championship – Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk with AJ Lee as Special Guest Ref.
So many different outcomes to expect, with AJ Lee being a wack-job and all… There’s no way I could predict what the hell they’re planning on doing with AJ on Sunday. But at the end of the night, I’m betting that CM Punk retains once again. This is the 3rd and probably the last CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan match we’ll see at a PPV for a while, so I expect this match to be a classic match-up like the one we saw at Over the Limit. Daniel Bryan will move on to other things and CM Punk defends the WWE Championship against Cena or Big Show at SummerSlam. AJ might have some program with Eve or something. Whatever the outcome, I’m fairly certain that this match marks the end of the Punk/Bryan feud. And honestly, ever since Kane got out of the picture, I’ve lost interest in this feud.
Unannounced Ryback squash AKA bathroom break AKA filler match
Maybe against Tyler Reks again. Or another low-carder. Or two low-carders at once. Whatever…
MITB Ladder Match (WWE Championship – Kane vs. Jericho vs. Cena vs. Big Show)
Honestly, I don’t think this match will be as bad as people think. Sure, out of four competitors, we have two slow dudes. But all these guys are future Hall of Famers and Legends. They are the biggest names in WWE. I trust they’ll make it work.
If it were up to me, I’d like Jericho to win, or have them shock us by having Kane win for a second time. But (and I hate saying this) my pick for this match is John Cena. Afterwards, I see him doing the noble/boring thing by pulling an RVD (announcing when he is going to cash in).
MITB Ladder Match (WHC – Santino vs. Christian vs. Rhodes vs. Ziggler vs. Kidd vs. Sin Cara vs. Sandow vs. Tensai)
This match is going to be amazing, but we already know this. It’s 8 men trying to prove themselves. But to the point, my money’s on Dolph Ziggler. He’s already started proving that he’s main event material, but he’s not quite there yet. I see big things for this guy, and I see them soon. Sooner than any other superstar involved in this match. But I'd be more than happy if Tyson Kidd, Cody Rhodes or Damien Sandow walked out Mr. Money in the Bank. (Btw, how great would it be if Wade Barrett returned as a 9th competitor and won the match?!)
Also, with only 4 matches on a card (plus like a 3-minute Ryback squash), I think we'll either get another match added last minute, or a MITB cash-in.
Anyway, ya’ll have a good one and enjoy the show!
