Dolph Ziggler won the SmackDown Money in the Bank match at the July pay-per-view to guarantee himself the opportunity to cash in at the World Heavyweight Champion at anytime, any place or anywhere within a year. The following night on RAW, He would cut a promo about how he is better than guys like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and just as he was about to say that he is better than Chris Jericho, Chris Jericho himself came out. Before Chris Jericho could speak, Dolph Ziggler would mock Chris Jericho, claiming that he lost his touch. Chris Jericho would hit the Codebreaker on Dolph Ziggler, furthering their feud.
They went on to have an amazing match at SummerSlam with Jericho picking up the victory with the Liontamer. The following night on RAW, Dolph Ziggler would demand a rematch with Chris Jericho and then-General Manager AJ Lee would make the match official with Dolph Ziggler's Money in the Bank contract and Chris Jericho's career both at stake. Dolph Ziggler would go on and win the match to take Chris Jericho off of television.
After the feud with Jericho ended, He would go on and feud with John Cena claiming that Cena has been hogging the spotlight for a long time and that he is getting sick and tired of it. These two would go on to face each other in a wonderful Ladder match at the TLC PPV with Dolph Ziggler's briefcase once again on the line.. Dolph Ziggler would end up winning the match after AJ Lee threw John Cena off the ladder as Ziggler grabbed the briefcase. The next night on RAW, They would solidify their relationship and hire Big E Langston as their bodyguard.
Over the next few months, Dolph Ziggler would tease cashing in his Money in the Bank, but would fail in doing so. Then, The moment finally came.... Dolph Ziggler cashed in the night after WrestleMania and went on to become the new World Heavyweight Champion as the crowd went absolutely nuts. This was the moment where we all happy that WWE finally put the belt on Ziggler... And it wasn't until he suffered a concussion by the hands of Jack Swagger, who he was supposed to face along with Alberto Del Rio at the Extreme Rules PPV in a Ladder match.
Instead of the Triple Threat Ladder match, Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger would face each other in an I Quit match to determine the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship, which Del Rio won.
Dolph Ziggler would go on to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Alberto Del Rio at Payback in June, where he lost. During the match, A double turn occurred as Dolph Ziggler showed a never say die attitude whereas Del Rio targeted Ziggler's head the entire match. Dolph Ziggler losing the title was a big letdown and very immature of WWE to do since it wasn't his fault that he suffered a concussion...
Dolph Ziggler would get his rematch against Del Rio at the Money in the Bank PPV, but ended up getting disqualified after AJ Lee hit Del Rio with the Divas Title. The following night, Dolph Ziggler would dump AJ Lee, cementing his face turn. Later on in the night, Dolph Ziggler would face Del Rio in a rematch, but lost after a distraction from AJ Lee and would end up getting attacked by his former bodyguard, Big E Langston. Ziggler would start a feud with AJ Lee and Big E Langston, bringing in Kaitlyn as his partner and they would end up defeating the pair at SummerSlam.
After his feud with AJ Lee and Big E Langston ended, He would become involved in the Daniel Bryan/Randy Orton/McMahon Family angle and would get destroyed for voicing his opinion. Dolph Ziggler would go on to become an enhancement talent to the point where his entrance didn't even air on television. He would enter a short feud with Dean Ambrose where he would unsuccessfully challenge Dean Ambrose for the United States Championship at the Night of Champions PPV.
It really saddens me that WWE dropped the ball on Dolph Ziggler just because he suffered a concussion and what's even more stupid is that when Ziggler gets injured, he gets relegated to jobber status and when Cena gets injured, he gets a World Title shot. The fact that WWE officials think this guy can't draw money is shocking... Haven't they seen his matches with Jericho, Cena, Punk and so on?
If Dolph Ziggler would have never suffered a concussion, Do you think Dolph Ziggler would still be World Heavyweight Champion right now and not relegated to jobber status? Let me know what you guys think in the comment section below!
