The Rock VS Cena....Part 2?
by Bobby Quinn
It looks as if its all but set in stone that The Rock will face John Cena again at this years WrestleMania. I have mixed feelings about this but all in all I don't believe the match should happen. Geeze it sounds like all I do is write negative WWE columns anymore, I wish they would do something to change that. Trust me, I don't want to hate WWE, I've been a hardcore fan of wrestling fan for 16 years and I have to say the "John Cena" era is by far the most underwhelming era the WWE has ever done. The Rock is already doing most of the same things to CM Punk that he did to John Cena last year, does the WWE employ a creative team anymore?
The Rock is entertaining no doubt but lets look at this, this is the third year we're going to be basically seeing The Rock and John Cena feuding on RAW leading up to WrestleMania. Call me a cynic but isn't two years enough? Three years is fine for The Rock vs Steve Austin but Cena aint no Steve Austin. So what will the WWE do differently this year? The Rock will trend his funny names, yeah they are admittedly pretty funny. Cena will come out and do an old school rap and the fans will like him for one night because he actually manages to be entertaining. And, I hope I'm not spoiling this, Cena will probably get his revenge and beat The Rock at Mania, shocking!
Well how about this WWE - turn Cena heel this year. Make Cena say he hates the fans that boo him out of every arena and for cheering The Rock who wrestles three times a year. In my view that would make the feud entertaining and shocking. The ratings would no doubt go through the roof to see a newly heel Cena go head to head verbally with "The Great One." Will it happen? Not likely, as in 99 percent not likely. But hey I can dream about the days when WWE had creative wisdom can't I? The other matches on the card look solid, I just wish WWE could spice it up a little bit, we've seen a few of these matches already.
I really am not buying this - well Cena sells the most merchandise so we have to keep him face stuff anymore. This doesn't mean that the WWE is not allowed to take chances. Remember in 2001 when the greatest merchandise seller of all time - Stone Cold Steve Austin turned heel? The WWE took a chance, I don't see why they can't with Cena. Cena is more stale than anyone in WWE history at this point, if anyone needs a heel turn it's Cena. I hope WWE decides to do some things differently this year, it would benefit the fans and their television ratings that have become a joke when The Rock's not on Raw. Well that's all I got post comments good or bad!

Good for business? Sure. Might be considered the offical passing of the torch if Cena wins. It might piss a lot of fans of though. Completely throws the "Once in a Lifetime" gimmick straight out the window.

@Tyler Collins - Yeah I see what your saying, the sad thing is the WWE will have no problem just literally doing the same stuff they did last year. I hope they find some way to make it different it seems like their creative team is non existent these days.

I've been chanting the same tune for years. But now more than ever Cena needs a change. Cenas merch sales have actually dropped and I think him turning heel would see another spike in his merch since more men would probably actually start buying his stuff again. I personally do NOT want to see cena ...

@Kevin Silveira - Yeah Cena's the one guy who's never had a heel turn it's about time. All of the greats have done it from Stone Cold to Hulk Hogan, the WWE is so boring and repetitive these days I don't see it ever happening.

I completely agree. It's pretty boring every time he comes out either to talk or wrestle. Heel turn would spice things up a bit.
