I'm baaack. Starting off the new year, I figured I'd come back to blogging and I'd like to share with you all my top 5 superstars to shine in 2013.
5. John Cena
Give me some returning heat, go ahead. I'm going to tell you that John Cena does have a lot to go in his career, still. He's what, 35? He's got half a decade, I'm guessing, left in his run. I think this year, Cena will be drafted to Smackdown. Longshot, I know everyone says that he carries RAW, but I think that Raw is to the point now that it doesn't need Cena anymore. With RAW now as a "Supershow", there's all the reason to have Cena on both shows in the week. I also think he'll become World Heavyweight Champion in a second feud with Dolph Ziggler, but for the World Heavyweight Championship. Starting after Wrestlemania and leading until Summerslam or so with John Cena taking the championship off the then 2-time World Heavyweight Champion.
4. Daniel Bryan
Daniel Bryan has found success in mid card, main event, and the tag team division. He's charismatic, he's a great heel when he needs to be, and he's a great face when he needs to be. He's the entire package that a superstar should be and I see him sticking with the tag team division until he has a fallout with Kane. HOPEFULLY, with Kane being the heel in a feud they have. Bout them against each other in the Elimination Chamber and have a finale match at Wrestlemania, with either Kane being dominant, a possible comeback with Bryan, and then a final blow from Kane to win, or Bryan losing until he comes back as the underdog to win it. We'll see, but he has a great year ahead, in my opinion.
3. The Miz
The Miz has had a very weird past couple years. He's gone from WWE Champion, retaining his title in the main event of Wrestlemania against John Cena, to being a babyface with a talk show. I see a lot of Jericho in The Miz, aside from agility, but that can always be worked on. Miz is a very charismatic superstar. One of the top 10 of the past few years. Although I don't see a WWE or World Heavyweight Championship reign in his near future, I can definitely tell he's going to make an impact this year. He may have won the big belt, but figuratively, it was a little big on him at the time. I think this year he'll progress in making himself a star and furthering his legitimacy as a contender to be a top star. He's found success late this year as a face and I look forward to how they develop this young talent.
2. Wade Barrett
Look out for Wade Barrett in 2013. With his victory last night on the New Year's Eve edition of RAW, he is the Intercontinental Champion once again. I'm looking forward to where this leads him because WWE had two options as I see it. 1. Give him the midcard title. 2. Have him lose and go for the World Championship. They went with #1, which I think angered some of the online WWE Universe, the hardcore fans. The reason they did this is they're focusing on Dolph Ziggler for the main title picture now, but I surely see him becoming the top heel on Smackdown in the next year. With Big Show's career winding down, there leaves an open spot for a powerful guy to take his spot. Wade Barrett stands around 6 foot 5 and weighs over 260 pounds. That's a big dude! I really have a feeling Wade Barrett has a chance to solidify himself as one of the best in the company.
1. Dolph Ziggler
You have no idea how much Dolph Ziggler reminds me of a young Shawn Michaels. Heck, he even uses a Super Kick too! But he's got the crowd on their feet more than Cena does! Ziggler's not exactly young, at 32, but he's one of the brightest stars in the industry today. You can't argue that he is one of the best performers and has the top stage presence of almost anyone in the WWE today. Let's just realize the fact that his year is 2013, and he WILL become World Heavyweight Champion. Coming out on top of a John Cena feud, you know WWE has faith in this guy. Look at the Slammy's next year Superstar of the Year to be Dolph Ziggler. He's got everything he needs and he's the next bullet in the WWE's revolver, and they're pulling the trigger as we speak.
