Brock Lesnar vs. Ryback

After the unfortunate and devastating Chris Benoit tragedy in 2007 the landscape for the WWE changed quite a bit, no longer did we see big muscled "roided" out wrestlers dominating our TV screens every Monday. The verdict was out on the WWE and they where forced to step-up their testing policies that led to quite a bit of suspensions in the locker room. Now honestly when talking about big muscled guys Brock Lesnar comes to mind, I never personally thought Lesnar was on "the juice", I really think he's a freak of nature, nor do I believe a guy like Ryback is given WWE's current testing policy.

So we have a new landscape of wrestling where guys quite frankly look a little more human. I'm not complaining here, going back to the Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart days you had some of the most if not the most entertaining matches of all time in the mid 90's. We've basically seen a new WWE emerge in the last four years, a WWE that is focusing more on technical wrestling than how muscled up a wrestler is. John Cena is an exception we know in all likelihood is not on roids, I'm just going to trust WWE is doing the correct testing given how much the media had been breathing down their necks I doubt they would let Cena slide.

So we have guys like CM Punk and Sheamus as world champs, Sheamus while with an impressive physique isn't in the league of guys like Batista and Warrior which is just fine because he's awesome. But we do have to admit here, we miss the days of matches like Hulk Hogan vs The Ultimate Warrior. When you saw those guys in the ring it was like wow, I've never seen anything like this these guys look inhuman. However facts are facts and steroids are deadly and linked to many, many early deaths for pro wrestlers. It was very wise of the WWE to go in the direction they went in. That doesn't mean I still don't want to see a Hogan/Warrior like match-up again.

I'm sure you get where I'm going with this column by now in that I personally have been pretty damn impressed with Ryback. Ryback has that look you just don't see that often, at all. The guys a freak of nature and it's awesome as a fan to watch. There is some room for improvement, his theme song is honestly a little lame to me and he could get better in the ring. But Ryback has a load of potential and he's filling a void of something quite frankly fans like to see, a super-hero like warrior. I think it would be awesome to see Brock Lesnar fight Ryback when he returns sometime in the future. It would be just like good old days of wrestling which I guess I'm a sucker for. Lesnar is an absolute monster and both men move pretty well in the ring for their size, especially Lesnar. I'll end the column there, just something that was on my mind! Thanks for reading and as always - post comments good or bad!
