WWE's Two-Headed Coin: Who Needs To Turn Face/Heel In The Coming Months
In the coming months, and the months after WrestleMania, there will most likely be another WWE Draft, which means superstars switch between shows looking for a fresh start and to become that breakout star. So, I look at who I think needs to turn heel and turn face in the coming months. First, the guys who need to turn face.
WWE Stars Who Need To Turn Face:
1. Jack Swagger-After unceremoniously capturing the United States Championship from injured champion Zack Ryder, The All-American American commented in a WWE.com exclusive said he sincerely didn't know Ryder was not cleared to compete, but all on his mind was becoming the U.S. Champion, but does give Ryder his due as being a fighting champion, and that when he is cleared, Swagger said he's looking forward to giving Ryder his rematch. I honestly think this was a bold and honorable move by Swagger to comment the way he did. Not only did he give Ryder his credit, he was also sincere to give him his rematch. The one thing I think he can do to start the face turn is to get out of Vickie Guerrero's "stable" and give Ziggler a Gutwrench Powerbomb. Swagger has enough natural talent to stand out on his own, and being the U.S. Champion, Swagger can use his American pride to win over the WWE Universe.
2. The Miz-According to a report on Wrestlezone.com, The Miz has been blamed for the low buyrates for Survivor Series, and his alliance with R-Truth fell short of anything considered an awesome truth. Around this time last year, The Awesome One was on top of his game as WWE Champion and was the "Most Must See WWE Champion" of all time. Now is he really being talked about? Not really, unless you talk to Little Jimmy about him. A face turn I think will do Miz some good because he has that instant charisma with the fans that made the WWE Universe hate him to begin with, plus, his heel run seems to have ran out of gas after his feud with Triple H and CM Punk. Now how he should turn face is a hard thing for me to come up with at this time because I don't see anyone he really could feud with until after WrestleMania. A Miz face turn is very possible, but WWE creative will have to knock heads for hours before coming to any decision on this one.
3. Beth Phoenix- As the current WWE Divas Champion, Beth is one of the only real divas on the roster, that was until Kharma made her return at the Royal Rumble. Now if Kharma is indeed heel, and even though she will make the divas division better, Beth should turn face because she might be the only one who can match Kharma's power, once Kharma runs all over the rest of the divas.
4. Ted DiBiase- Granted he's got all the tools and the pedigree to become a 2nd or 3rd tier face in the WWE, it might take a miracle (unless he isn't released already) to make him an effective face. To start, I might set him on a path for the IC Title against his former partner Cody Rhodes, and angle it by how Rhodes kept him down during their time in Legacy, which led to DiBiase's character burial after WrestleMania 26, and further burial when he brought back the Million Dollar Championship. If WWE would bring back the European Championship, he might be another candidate besides Drew McIntyre to be considered for a good mid-card title run.
WWE Stars Who Need To Turn Heel:
1. John Cena-This is a no-brainer. At WrestleMania when he takes on The Rock, he'll be considered a heel in the eyes of everyone in attendance in Miami, and fans around the world, so why not turn him a full-fledged heel in his final match with Kane at Elimination Chamber, which is rumored to be a Last Man Standing Match. With Kane targeting his friend Zack Ryder, Kane is doing everything he can to force Cena to "embrace the hate." Cena should turn his back on Ryder or at least, they should have let Kane drag Ryder under the ring about a month ago, and blame Ryder's demise on Cena, thus making him a heel.
2. Randy Orton-This is also another obvious move needing to happen. Orton's heel run in 2009 was one of his best, as his tattoos defined the evolution of The Apex Predator, as well as his assault on the McMahon Family, concluding with taking the WWE Championship from Triple H at Backlash 2009 in a 6-Man Tag Team Match. Orton's face run kind of ran out after he defeated Christian just five days after Christian won the World Heavyweight Championship this past April at Extreme Rules.
3. The Great Khali-Why oh why was he ever made a face to begin with? He entered WWE and went after the biggest dog in the yard...The Undertaker. Granted, I have to admit, when he first was a heel, he became WHC at least once if I'm correct. When he became face, he just became a laughingstock, and his little run with Jinder Mahal, more embarrassing. Bring back the 2006 version of Khali where all he had was the dark pants and intimidating look, and cut out the Vise Grip from his move set. Plus, SmackDown needs more heels, even though it looks as if Daniel Bryan is slowly turning heel.
