Hey there guys, I hope y’all are having a good week thus far. Before we get started, I’d like to apologize for my lack of blogs over the past week or so. I’ve been dealing with a few things as of late so I haven’t really had the opportunity to sit down and write a piece. But not to fear, I’m back and ready to get down to business. With Hell In A Cell just under two weeks away, we now know that the undefeated cyborg Ryback, will challenge CM Punk for his WWE Championship. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s nice seeing Cena out of the title picture and all, but one question remains. Can Punk and Ryback make this match work? Or will we see Punk carrying the former Nexus meathead for the entire contest?
Over the past month or so, Vinnie Mac’s second golden boy, Ryback, has gotten incredibly over with the fans. His “Feed Me More” catchphrase has become almost symbolic in today’s mediocre, watered down PG era. We’ve seen Ryback decimate multiple jobbers at once, including household names such as Stan Stansky and Rutherford Hayes. He then started moving up the ladder defeating guys like Jack Swagger, The Miz, and Tensai who he actually destroyed twice. Now, this unstoppable wrecking machine finds himself in the main event at Hell In A Cell in Atlanta for WWE’s richest prize, against what is most definitely his toughest opponent yet, CM Punk.
I think that this bout can go two ways. The first being Punk carries the entire match, which there’s a good possibility of that happening. Seeing how Ryback seems to have a very limited moveset, it’s hard to imagine him putting on a clinic. Especially when his opponent is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world and also happens to be the current WWE Champion. In my mind Punk has an unlimited skill set, and while it may seem as though he uses the same moveset every match, I’m sure if necessary he could break out his entire arsenal. If that were to happen, it’d spell bad news for Ryback no matter how jacked he is.
The other way this match could go other than Punk carrying it, is Ryback completely dominating and winning his first ever WWE Championship. But to be perfectly honest, I don’t see this being a long cell match. I can see it lasting at most 17-18 minutes. Then you have to look at the scenario if Ryback does indeed taste defeat for the first time. Think about it, if Ryback loses his undefeated streak ends and his push could quite possibly end as well. If that happens then what? He’ll be demoted to Tensai status? While I highly doubt that will happen, its got to be in the back of everyone’s mind. Also on another note, I really don’t see Punk and Ryback developing great chemistry in the ring. I feel as though Ryback is similar to Goldberg in the way that he doesn’t really sell that well. It’s just hard for me to imagine him actually selling the GTS. I could see Punk nailing him with it and then he kicks out at 1 or 1 and a half. Hopefully if Punk does hit Ryback with the GTS, then he stays down for good.
Sunday October 28 in Atlanta is shaping up to be an interesting night. With two main events taking place inside Satan’s structure, I’m hoping that at least one of them lives up to the hype. Ryback and the WWE Champion CM Punk have a date with the devil inside his playground and I’m sure a lot of people are wondering if the number one contender has what it takes to deliver in a main event. We all know that the champ can get it done on the grandest stages, but this has to be his biggest obstacle yet. Will CM Punk and Ryback be able to pull off something special? Because I’m very skeptical at this point so the big man is going to have to show me something inside the cell. We’ll find out in just twelve days if Ryback’s really main event worthy, or if CM Punk’s reign as our WWE Champion will move closer and closer to the incredible one year mark.
