Does The WWE Take CM Punk Seriously?
by Bobby Quinn
First off I do have to state that I was pleasantly surprised last summer at how well the WWE handled CM Punk, they turned him into a real star and they showed that they're not totally creatively bankrupt. During the Attitude Era specifically the WWE showed that they could create magic on TV, forget the fact that they where even a wrestling company the writing on the show was phenomenal and they where the most entertaining thing on TV period. There was a huge spark of that creative spirit during the CM Punk quitting storyline when the WWE actually *gasp* had people asking questions, even the smarks seemed a tad fooled.
So CM Punk came out and did his awesome shoot promo and "left" the company. Now personally, I didn't believe he was leaving. The WWE has become such a bunch of politically correct buffoons that there's no way they would let CM Punk do an unscripted interview let alone a "shoot" promo. So I had a hunch it was all planned, but damn it was entertaining stuff. I really saw sparks of Stone Cold Steve Austin during that time, it was just great TV the WWE hasn't really duplicated since.
Unlike Stone Cold Steve Austins reign however, CM Punk started to be treated less and less like a rebel who broke the wrestling rules and more and more like...an average wrestler. The most notable thing that comes to mind is that the WWE will not put CM Punk in a main event, whether they like it or not he instantly looks second rate because of that. Why not put Punk in main events? Why not think outside of the box? Nobody deserves to be main eventing PPV's more than CM Punk. The WWE paid a lot of money for Brock Lesnar, I get that and maybe an exception or two won't hurt but the WWE is treating Punk like second rate material on every PPV. Lets not forget he is - there WORLD CHAMPION. Somebody needs to start looking back at old WWE Attitude tapes and seeing why they where a creative force on cable TV. Punk deserves better. Post your thoughts good or bad!!

Considering Punk is constantly saying something about it in his promo's now, I say it's part of the gimmick. It's part of the heel turn.

it's sad to look at the facts: Last time Punk was in the main event was LAST YEAR with Cena, and now he'll be the main event at Night of Champions because he's facing Cena.
