WWE To Roll Out The WWE Network With Paid YouTube Service?

YouTube is in the process of creating paid subscription channels on their site according to AdAge.com. Currently all YouTube programming is free and subsidized by advertising.

YouTube recently reached out to a small group of channel producers and asked them to submit applications to create channels that users would have to pay to access. The rumored cost could be between $1-$5 a month.

The story goes on saying that "YouTube is also considering charging for content libraries and access to live events, a la pay-per-view, as well as self-help or financial advice shows."

WWE's current deal calls for YouTube to pay them for their content. WWE has ran the final episodes in the past week for a couple of their shows.

PWInsider reports it could be very likely WWE could be one of these new paid subscription providers, which could also lead to the possible roll out of the WWE Network.

sure they have alot of content...but they dont have original programming and thats going to kill them. cant run a channel on 5 minute videos.

They have a lot of footage, from NWA/JCP/WCW (which goes back to the 1950's), AWA (from 1960), World Class (from its inception to 1988), ECW (from 1994 to 2001), Mid South (for however long that went) and of course other video libraries, so yeah they've got the footage and shows BUT again, too much ...
