Mary Scurll has been killing it as a member of the Bullet Club and merch sales as his villain moniker keeps making more and more money. But things didn’t work out for Scurll when trying to recapture the IWGP Jr Heavyweight Championship, which is a title he hasn’t held since last year.
The IWGP Jr Heavyweight Championship was won by KUSHIDA at NJPW’s King Of Pro-Wrestling event in a match against Scurll. The title had to be previously relinquished after Hiromu Takahashi suffered a neck injury during the G1 Climax Special In San Fransisco after his match against Dragon Lee saw Takahashi getting dropped on his head.
KUSHIDA is now a 6-time IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champion after defeating Scurll. Only time will tell if Takahashi will be facing KUSHIDA for the title when he returns sometime next year. After all, he’ll probably want another shot at the title he had to vacate.
KUSHIDA is no stranger to this title either as he is ranked #7 in the list of longest-running IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champions with 596+ days. On another note of trivia, Jushin Thunder Liger and Prince Devitt (Finn Balor) hold the #1 and #2 spot on that list with 2,245 and 1,010 days respectively.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
