For the past few years, women’s wrestling has become more prominent as the females continue to kick barriers down. Last year WWE held the Mae Young Classic, surprising fans with some fantastic matches and impressive signees for the company. With the confirmation of a second Mae Young Classic, WWE look again to be focusing on the women.

Speaking of the Mae Young Classic, WWE had several performers they sought out last year who were very impressive but had certain medical issues that prevented them from getting cleared. This included talent like Io Shirai, who has now signed with WWE and is confirmed for the event.

Another name scheduled to compete last year in the event was the popular Lacey Lane. Lane was, unfortunately, unable to compete in the event because WWE found she had arthritis in her knee. This information, which she later explained to the Spinning Heel Kick podcast led to her WWE contract being rescinded.

Fightful is now reporting that Lane has signed with WWE, despite the issues she faced last year. It is unknown at this time if the reported contract includes working the Mae Young Classic, though many expect it will. This would mean Lane joins stars such as Kaitlyn, Shirai and Rhea Ripley for the new tournament to take place in August.

Lane was trained by The Dudley Boyz at their Team 3D Academy and has worked for a number of promotions and on the independent circuit throughout her career, raising her stock as a global female competitor.
