We saw a dream match come true when The Undertaker accepted John Cena’s challenge at WrestleMania 34. After spending weeks trying to intice The Undertaker to face him for a match, Cena got what he wanted. But the match only lasted just a little over than a couple of minutes.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the reason WWE decided to build up the match in such a fashion was because the company didn’t want the fans to have high expectations for it. They didn’t want the fans to think that it was going to be one of the biggest matches on the event or think of it as a main event.

The decision for the match itself between the two Superstars “was made months ago.” Meltzer adds that it was apparent that The Undertaker wouldn’t be able to work a match for a long time, so they wanted to downplay any expectations by letting the audience know that The Undertaker would be there but there wouldn’t be any significant match. Cena was defeated under 3 minutes and this leaves no reason for the fans to get upset over an unadvertised match, regardless of the length.
