WWE Universal Title Plans for Next Month’s Royal Rumble Event

As seen on Monday’s episode of RAW, Braun Strowman vs. Kane for an opportunity at Brock Lesnar’s WWE Universal Championship Title ended in a double count out.

Dave Meltzer discussed the match on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and said that WWE is going with a three-way at The Royal Rumble event next month for the Universal Championship. Meltzer said it was Vince McMahon’s call and unless things change last minute, that will be the match at The Rumble.

Meltzer speculated that WWE didn’t want to have Braun or Brock get pinned right now, which is why they didn’t do a singles match between the two. Kane was added to the match so that he can take the pinfall.

Lesnar vs. Strowman vs. Kane couldn’t be any more random.

Let them all fight. Then have Vince come down before the match and declare Reigns the new fuckin champ. All this shit to make Braun a threat has gone out the window.

This is best case scenario for Braun to win the match by pinning Kane. Saves Brock from losing (not that he can’t take a loss but this is win win for WWE. If Lesnar is going back to UFC after his contract win WWE expires they need to get the belt off of him and at least have his 1v1 rematch before leaving, finally passing the torch to Strowman with this being his year, his biggest buildup, he’ll claim the Universal Championship at Royal Rumble or if not no later than Wrestlemania.
