Original Plans for The NXT Championship Match at WarGames

Original Plans for The NXT Championship Match at WarGames

Dave Meltzer discussed Saturday’s WWE NXT Takeover: WarGames event on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and indicated that Andrade “Cien” Almas was not originally in the plans to be the challenger for the NXT Championship on the show.

According to Meltzer, Adam Cole was scheduled to challenge Drew McIntyre on the card but WWE changed the plans once when they decided to bring the WarGames match back. With McIntyre possibly out of action for six-months with a biceps tear, it’s possible that Cole challenges Andrade for the NXT Championship next.

Regarding McIntyre heading to the main roster, Meltzer said he doesn’t know if that was the plan.

Drew injury is a work he might actually be injured in some way but I think this was all pre planned . They already had both him and HHH ready to go 5 mins after the PPV was over ready to talk about how bad it is and how long he might be out. The dude is gonna be in the Royal Rumble I think. This is just to give him some rest to heal and keep Royal Rumble entrance a secret

So they are going to do a heel vs heel match?

    • NoGoodMickey
