On today’s show, Big Vito talks about his experience working as the first North American wrestler in Nepal.
He says that after he finished working for WWE he was approached with an opportunity to travel to Nepal to wrestle. He worked out a deal in order to make it happen, and before he knew it he was on his way to Nepal.
He landed at the airport and as he was exiting the plane there were groups of people placing wreaths of garland around his neck. His opponent met him at the airport and Vito attacked him in the airport as part of their angle. This was a risky move to get heat, because he could have been legitimately arrested by unknowing police officers. Luckily, he was rushed off by the promoters into a car and they made their way to the first event that night.
The event was sold out with over 5,000 people in attendance, but unfortunately there was no security whatsoever. The crowd was firmly behind the hometown babyface and Vito was the definite heel. At one point in the match Vito bent over to pick up a weapon to use, and the fans absolutely lost their mind. They began throwing chairs and anything they could find into the ring, targeting Vito in particular.
