WWE fans were treated to multiple surprises a couple of weeks ago when they were told that WWE would introduce a new pay-per-view in July titled Great Balls of Fire. If this wasn’t big enough, it was also announced that Brock Lesnar would be defending his WWE Universal Championship at this pay-per-view. That alone will sell tickets and viewers for the WWE Network. The only question that remains now is who will challenge Brock at the show?
All signs were pointing to Braun Strowman. This guy has really came into his own ever since the brand split occurred last year. He’s been rising up the rankings and is becoming a fan favorite (despite being booked heel) thanks to his unmatched strength and acts of ruthlessness. After destroying Reigns on multiple occasions, it seemed inevitable that Strowman would clash against Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire. Then the injury bug would bite Braun, and now he is going to be out up to six months due to his elbow injury and surgery to repair it.
So now that Strowman is out of the picture for the time being, who should be the one that challenges Brock Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire? Seth Rollins and Finn Balor have already announced that they want a piece of Lesnar. Reigns undoubtedly wants the WWE Universal Championship back as well. Another competitor that fans, and Lesnar, should keep an eye on is Samoa Joe. In fact, that is exactly the guy who should challenge Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire.
