Five NXT Call Ups That Have Failed on the Main Roster

Not every NXT call up is created equal

Shinsuke Nakamura, The Revival, and Tye Dillinger were all called up to the main roster from NXT last week. With Andre Cien Almas and Elias Samson both expected to make their main roster debut in the coming week, it would appear as if the WWE is in full NXT call up mode right now.

Fans are understandably excited when a wrestler is called up from NXT. The committed among us have often watched these superstars hone their craft week in, week out at the Full Sail University. There’s high expectations for what they are going to achieve on the main roster.

Unfortunately, things don’t always work out as planned- gimmicks don’t translate, wrestlers are repackaged or in some cases, the wrestlers just simply weren’t ready. For every Bray Wyatt, there is a Tyler Breeze and for every Finn Balor, there is a Brodus Clay. So while the new NXT call ups are exciting, it’s good to remember that not all NXT call ups are created equal. Here are five NXT calls up that failed on the main roster.

I cry every morning when i think of Tyler Breeze, Bo Dallas and Aiden English. MVP’s in NXT but jobber in the main roster…

Yeah, it’s such a waste. I have a friend who doesn’t watch NXT, and he just laughs at me when I try to tell him how great Bo Dallas was.

Yeah, I didn’t like him before he hold the NXT Title and was my favorite once his heel turn totally done. It was just a really funny character entertaining and all. I think that, like the Ascension, they accentuated that gimmick in the wrong way and killed him. And now I’m crying every morning :'(
