Reasons Why Finn Balor Should Return as a Heel
Finn Balor had a fantastic debut on the Raw roster last year. His path to Summerslam, where he became the first WWE Universal Champion, solidified him as a major player. However, his devastating injury put a halt to all of that.
Since that time, fans have been anticipating Balor’s return to Raw. Many believe he will challenge whoever may be the Universal Champion to reclaim the championship he never truly lost. I eagerly await Balor’s return as well, but I believe Balor should return as a heel.
Balor returning as a heel would be a major shock to WWE fans.
When one looks at the current Raw roster, two of the major stars, that being Reigns and Rollins, are easily filling the top baby-face spots on the red brand. There is no “top heel” on Raw.
Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho are good heels, but they are not the heels Raw needs on the roster right now. Strowman is rapidly climbing into that spot, but he still has awhile to go before he’s a top star in any role.
Balor could be the perfect heel to face a top face Universal Champion.
It would be an easy story to book. Balor returns and wants the title he never lost. But WWE should go one step further. Balor could say that his injury made him face reality. That his, as well as everyone’s time in the business is limited. This made his realize that he needs to make a name for himself fast. And he can’t do that “playing nice.”
